I recently joined facebook and found a lot of my friends on it. It's a helluva lot cleaner than myspace, you don't typically get random invites from strangers, no god awful, poorly coded, high contrast, flashing profile pages with terrible music, etc...

Leave myspace for the attention whores, teenie-boppers and pedo-bears.

I also like that there's a pidgin plugin that allows me to chat without having the browser open.

Myspace is only as shitty as the profiles you visit. When I had a profile on there, the people on my friends lists didn't have pages that had blinking text and loud music with tons of animated gifs. Myspace doesn't force you to see any profiles you don't want to. So you won't see any of the "shit" unless you do it yourself. And if you set your options right, you'll more than likely never get a random friend request.

Myspace lets you create a profile, one that reflects you. FB lets you edit some text. MS has a lot of snotty nosed teenage punks, FB has a lot of older douches with superiority conplexes. Neither are really desirable if you ask me. And since both are shitty rip offs of a shitty site called Friendster, I suppose Friendster > *

Everyone I know who did use facebook still does. I never hear the word myspace except on the internet.

It is, it reminds me of a web template in an old HTML editor I use to use. I can't recall the name but it was ages ago (10 years or so) Facebook is plain, ugly, and looks like whoever made it was either lazy, or lacked the skills to make a nice looking site.

"that's because it's a minimalist look!" - been told this. Looks like a piss poor attempt at web 2.0 to me. I'm not a fan of cookie cutter shit, especially when the has no style what-so-ever. *shrug*

You don't like it, but it is CLEAR that millions upon millions of americans prefer it. That minimalist fast-to-load design is why FB > MS

Conformity > you

I'm sorry that you have poor taste. Enjoy your myspace templates. :D

I use it way more than I did when it was starting up. And I'm out of college now, too.

Some time this evening when I get home, I'll log into facebook. I'm sure I'll be greeted with 40 quizzes that people took. "I took the 'what color am I quiz' and the result is RED!" "I took the 'Which teletubby are you?' quiz, and I'm..."

I sincerely wish I could just block seeing ALL such quizzes. If that happened, facebook would be awesome again. But, to see what anyone's up to, I have to wade through pages of crap. I did, however, love my step-niece-in-law's (holy roller family, I believe) answer on the "what would Jesus think of you" quiz. Sadly, I can't find that quiz any more, but her results were a particular "c" word that I don't use in person, or online. :p

Somehow I knew this thread would be by someone with less than a year on the forum.

Um, Myspace fully supports CSS. If you have even a bit of skills you could create a profile layout that looks nothing at all like the standard layout. In fact, since you have full control over the CSS coding, you could create anything you wanted. Sure there default templates suck ass, but at least they give you the option to spice it up. FB could at least offer my the option to code my own profile layout. And just have a feature where the people who want to see the plain, ugly, boring web 2.0 lite template could disable custom profiles and just see my info. :D

the bulk of Facebooks growth is outside of the US. MS still dominates FB in the US So apparently in the good ole' US of A, FB isn't preferred. I don't give a shit about what the rest of the world does, or likes ;)

I don't give a fuck about my profile, I'm not looking at it. I have to look at everyone else's assed up profile with lady gaga in the background.

No thanks. Besides, my friends all use facebook, so it doesn't even matter.
