IDK, there's probably benefit for some folks to have a hardcopy so there's no digital footprint to forget and get found by someone disapproving.

Pornhub kinda made Playboy obsolete as well, no? Nobody is paying for soft core porn anymore when you can get the hardcore stuff for free now.
Remember when Rachel Ray was in FHM? Those magazines crossed a line back then for people trying to get more exposure without going all in. Some people say that's what boosted her career cause she can't make a bowl of cereal without putting olive oil on it.

So, basically they went the Google/Alphabet route and came up with a generic sounding name that makes it easier to bribe politicians with campaign donations without people instantly noticing.

My understanding is that Alphabet was more than just a rebrand. It was a corporate reorg to protect the search revenue from liability from some of the other stuff they got going like self driving.
