what requirements do you have for adding a friend to facebook?

Darrel Powers was saying in the other thread that he has to know them "IRL" to friend them.

Do high school friends count? What about online forum friends that you have "known" for several years?

I've been through my friend list before and pared it down by 10 people or so. Mostly it was people from high school that I was friends with but hadn't actually SEEN since highschool. I'm thinking it's high time I do that again.

Also, a couple general questions...

- Is there a way to remove one person's status updates without removing them from your friend list?
- Have you ever had someone impersonate a friend to get on your friend list?

I only friend people that I know or people that I deem important. The CEO/founder of Pixar is on my friends list, for example.

That's why friends are more trouble than they're worth... good thing I didn't make or have any. So easy to maintain an empty list.

I take the "don't friend anyone" approach. If they ask me to be a friend, however, I will generally accept.

Only people that I've meet in real-life (other than a couple I've added from ATOT). Some are actual friends of mine, others just acquaintances or those I went to high school or college with but don't interact with a lot.

I usually only friend people I know in real life. Whether it be from high school long ago, or someone I just met over the weekend.

usually the person has a trial period with me. If they begin to spam with pure crap and retarded comment, then I generally de-friend them.

EDIT: I do have people from ATOT on my friends list as well.

I only friend people I've met in real life. I generally only accept friend requests with the same requirement.

I would make an exception for people that I don't know IRL but might know here for instance.

I have been on for only a couple of weeks and I already think I may have added too many friends. I don't mind adding some old high school friends that I have since lost touch with, but I can't concern myself with acquaintances that I have not kept up with over the past 13 or so years.

Yes, if you put your mouse over a status message you will see an options box appear to the right of the status message. If you click that box there is an option to show less about that person.

I have to know them, or they be smokin' hot. Of course we do have and ATOT facebook group. I started adding some people from there and then just stopped.
