Loveable Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg called his first few thousand users "dumb fucks" for trusting him with their data, published IM transcripts show. Facebook hasn't disputed the authenticity of the transcript.
Zuckerberg was chatting with an unnamed friend, apparently in early 2004. Business Insider, which has a series of quite juicy anecdotes about Facebook's early days, takes the credit for this one.
The exchange apparently ran like this:
Zuck: Yeah so if you ever need info about anyone at Harvard
Zuck: Just ask.
Zuck: I have over 4,000 emails, pictures, addresses, SNS
[Redacted Friend's Name]: What? How'd you manage that one?
Zuck: People just submitted it.
Zuck: I don't know why.
Zuck: They "trust me"
Zuck: Dumb fucks

If true, Zuckerberg just admitted the obvious. they really are DFs

Facebook is dead now.

No one will ever sign up again, and everyone will delete their account (or try to).

It really bothers me that these social networking sites always ask for my personal email account passwords in order to find my friends who may also be on that same site.

Like hell I'm going to trust you with my passwords.

That's all those social networking places are about. Collecting your personal information. Your only safety is that everyone uses it.

I doubt it. At this point, Facebook is like the AIG of social networking sites... it's too big to fail 🙂

Seriously, it would take YEARS for any other site to get as many users as Facebook has now. It's WAY bigger than even Myspace or AOL were in their hay days.

Facebook -apps = iphone - apps = Nothing.
Orkut > (facebook -apps)

Maybe so, but if sour cream comes with an expiration date, so does facebook.
