Facebook can be sued if it tries to censor content, says French court
surprise
If I got 20,000 every time I was annoyed . . .
So they want websites to censor content . . .
how difficult is it for non-US residents to file suit in America?
The broader implications for being sued in every country you have a user is more troubling, especially when laws directly conflict (must not censor vs must censor for instance).
If instead of shutting down the account, Facebook dumped it into a country-only ghetto that could only be viewable to other accounts in France, I wonder what they would think of that.

It also said he could not expect French consumers' rights as the service was free and he had opened an account on his own initiative.
But the court found Facebook's compulsory clause on jurisdiction, in which only a California court can handle disputes, to be "abusive".
