"Including" (but frustratingly not giving the full list): Louis Farrakhan, Alex Jones, Milo Yiannopoulos, Laura Loomer, and Paul Nelan.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/02/tech...owars-alex-jones-milo-laura-loomer/index.html

Jones had previously been banned from FB, but since they apparently own Instagram, he's banned from that now too.

Queue up those mourning this infringement of "free speech" from a private actor who is controlling access to its private servers.

I for one think this is long overdue.

Now if FB could/would go after the more insidious, shifty perps and instigators of hate, fear and divisiveness as well as the more obvious targets, especially those foreign powers who wish to see the USA fall apart into anarchy from which these enemies could move in and exploit much easier than they are now.

If anything, the Trump presidency that was/is being aided and abetted by the Russians through social media has highlighted how dangerous our social media outlets can be to our way of life when our open society and the media it communicates through can be weaponized and transformed from a platform for sharing ideas and experiences into a cost free tool for our enemies to take advantage of.

Respectfully disagree. (With a slight exception for Alex Jones - I do have something against BS conspiracy shit).

But Milo and Laura Loomer? They make incredibly valuable arguments - the problem is most people can't take their trolling aspect.

This is basically trying to silence opposing opinions. Sorry they hurt your feelings. I'm not getting into a "free speech" argument. I'm telling you that safe spaces aren't going to save you from the real world.

It's also clearly segregated to one side - showing a clear bias. There are plenty of equivalent morons on the left - INCLUDING leftist conspiracy equivalent "news" sites.

It's only private companies exercising their right to censor content they don't like. No biggie.
Now if those same companies decided not to bake a cake for someone, that would be a huuuuge deal.

Hopefully my one & only post in this thread.

Facebook is a for profit private business. Free market, commerce and anti regulation stuff guys like you enjoy talking about.
If the list of character are shitting on the platform so much that it causes them to loose customers they have to go.
Fuck at this point Facebook should just claim a religious exemption for barring that batch of trolls from its service, sort of like a guy not wanting to bake a gay cake.

@IJTSSG haha a Russian and I just #bothsided this

This is BS. I don't care what side you are on free speech should never be infringed upon. Yes private company blah blah but we know that social media is really where everyone goes now. So you guys are okay with Facebook having that much control over what is said and who says it. It is a very slippery slope and you cheer now until they start pushing an agenda you don't agree with.

easiest solution is to abandon facebook. not sure why people can't do that, oh well.

It's not about what is right or wrong - or if Facebook can or can't legally do something. It's about our society getting more and more triggered and wanting their safe space echo chambers. Sorry, the world doesn't work that way with unicorn farts and rainbows and a magical place where your opinion is always the correct one.

Exactly! Refusing to serve someone because of who they are is both morally wrong and illegal. Refusing to serve someone because they behave badly in your business is perfectly fine. If anything, it should be encouraged.

Finally some common sense from you guys.

That's funny. I was raised religious and you're describing it to a "T", so yea...it does work that way for billions of people.

These people behaved like shit in Facebook’s place of business and got kicked out for it.

If I’m running a bar and some asshole is going around picking fights and causing trouble I kick them out. It’s not that I can’t handle their Real Talk, it’s that they are causing a problem.

Conservatives need to learn someday that bad behavior has consequences and freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom from those consequences.

Actually it looks like that's exactly how the world works as Facebook just banned people who make its platform look bad. There is also a whole industry catered to the victimized right where only their correct opinion is allowed and echoed in unison.

You walk into my business and I kick you out for being black or gay. That is one thing. You walk into my business and act like a complete fucking asshole to the point that I am not comfortable having you in my business that is quite another.

So you're right in your analogy.

More than any of this we should ban fake accounts on Twitter who support politicians. If Obama's number of followers fall as a result, then so be it. I'm sure everyone would support that, right?

So you're saying that Facebook should allow porn too?

This is the actual heart of the matter. Because many people have been abandoning Facebook. Under the guise of free speech, extremists have taken over Facebook and chased away a large number of its customers. Customers which Facebook would prefer to have instead of the extremists.

Free speech should never be infringed on?

So to be clear, if you're running say, a restaurant and someone stands up in the middle of it and starts screaming racial slurs at your other customers you sould just let them do it?

Facebook should have absolute control over what is said on their platform. If you don't like it, don't use it. I haven't used facebook in more than five years and I don't miss it one bit.

Twitter is a vanity site. From what I can tell one's self worth is measured by the number of followers you have. It's my belief that anyone with more than thirty followers has issues that require professional help.

The world would be a better place without twitter.
