First of all, I don't do facebook. Hardly ever.
All that my family & friends ever post are photos of kitties with cute little captions like "hang in there".
Or, photos of life back in the 60's asking, "remember this?".
And sunsets.
Holy crap! Hoards and hoards of sunsets with captions about religion, or happiness, or love.
It's like everyone I know on FB has taken on the spirit of Gandhi.
Everyone has become their own little Gandhi wanna be. WTF?
That's all they post. Crap-book, as I call it.
As if everyone's life goal is to raise the moral spirit and spew wisdom using cut and paste photos with captions of hope.
My other FB rant, and as Joan Crawford might have said in her special hysterical voice, "Christina, NO... MORE... PHOTOS... OF... FOOD!".
Yeah, sure, maybe the hubby did cook dinner for the family, but do we really need to see a photo of it?
I mean, it only looks like vomit on a plate.
Vomit on a plate taken by a grainy cell phone camera.
So whats the point?
What the hell is that, and did you actually eat it?
Welp, thats my "why I hate FB" rant for today.
Nuff of that.
Back to my FB idea(s).
"Private Reminders".
Add "private reminders", then pick and chose or grant access to whom you would allow to post private reminders onto your reminders.
I mean, you wouldn't want just anyone posting reminders onto your reminders.
You don't really care about the anniversary of your bosses first date with his wife?
Or reminders that their dog has an appointment at the groomers?
And you do not want just anyone seeing your reminder, from another.
Close friends and family private reminders?
Birthdays? Anniversaries? Family reunions?
That could possibly use a reminder.
When someone comments on your posts or comments on posts you commented on, you see that little red square at the top of your FB page with a number.
Well, private reminders could have their own little red icon sitting up there too, showing new posts to "your" private reminders from others you allowed access to.
The point, only you could see those reminders. No one else.
Taking your boyfriend to the ballet next Tuesday, but don't want your wife to know?
Private reminder.
My second idea, revamp the FB layout.
Isn't it about time this was done?
FB has looked the same since birth.
My suggestion would be more of a flow chart effect.
Especially for photos.
With comments on the left, and all photos displayed as a flow chart to the right.
Posts and comments to the left. Photos to the right.
Clicking on a photo would expand or zoom on a photo, while comments and posts to the left would not change appearance.
Kind of like two pages on one screen, with a flow chart layout.
And still another suggestion, "personalized color schemes".
White white white. White is boring.
Allow one to "color tint" selected friends or family member posts and comments with a background "color tint".
Customized by you for your personal friends and family.
Everything your sister post, for example, all of her posts and or comments would have a color tint background "behind the text". Replacing the generic white.
Moms posts could be set to a gentle green.
Dads, to a faint and shuttle blue. Or red.
And your gay son, a shocking pink.
Well, maybe better just a shuttle pink.
Why the color scheme?
Well, you would notice right off all posts made by mom, dad, or whomever.
As you scrolled down the page, those close family members, close friends, would stand out in color.
Kind of like having set customized ring tones for family members, except on FB, and using color.
You could set the background color to suit, per member.
And those people you don't care about that much?
Just keep the generic white background for their posts.
Thats it!
Facebook "Reminders", flowchart layouts, and "color schemes".
And NO MORE effing FOOD SHOTS!
