The other day I was looking around at GameStop on my lunch hour and saw Fable in their used CD bin for $10. Having heard of this game here and other places, I decided to pick it up. Everybody always has good things to say, and for $10 you can't really go wrong anyway.

Man, this game is fun..... I haven't played any really fun RPG's in quite sometime and I'm really digging it. I hope Fable 2 will be as good :)

I still don't have oblivion either, maybe that will be my next one... won't get that one so cheap though :)

Fable and Oblivion are completely different, although I enjoyed both. I had been thinking of going back through Fable again recently, but ended up doing Oblivion + mods instead :p

I really enjoyed fable, but I have a hard time really getting into oblivion. The combat system is just, kinda bland for my taste, which is not to say that someone else might not find it to be amazing. I totally understand that my feeling there is part of the minority.

Biggest problem with Fable is that doing like EVERYTHING, the game is about 20 hours. It was a fun 20 hours I thought. And with the right combination, the final boss is cake, but it's fun. I do love the body modding that can add to your evil or good or appearance. And the whole appearing like your alignment thing was neat too.

Oblivion is a completley different experience. If you try to do everything in Oblivion you'll just go crazy. Unlike many I loved Oblivion even without the mods ... then again my character was an unkillable god because I knew the right ways to munchkin him out :)

I remember playing a friend's copy for an hour or two when it first came out. I was enjoying myself, but there were no save points by the time I had to quit. No way was I going to replay the entire introduction again so I never went back to it.

Maybe I'll try again before Fable 2.

Well most RPG's don't have highly interactive combat. Look at WoW for example, you don't really do anything yourself in it. Oblivion at least makes you do individual slashes. But it adds the RPG elements not allowing you to specify body hit location and stuff. It's a mix of interactive combat like an FPS, and RPG combat which does tend to be bland. So it comes off worse to many because of the first person perspective you're in most of the time.

This is actually the reason I haven't bought Oblivion so far.... In the previous elder scrolls games , they always got really boring because it was so easy to build yourself up to an unkillable god-mode-like character and after that it was just grinding it out to finish the game.... They need to work a bit on game balance issues.
