I don't think I've worked harder to get an appointment, to physically get there (running across the convention floor only to be stopped by security!) and then to transcribe--than anything else I've done in my goofy little adventures so far. Totally worth it though! :)

Anyway, my Peter Molyneux interview about Fable 3 is now up and we talk about the new crafting system, how to marry well, how Fable 2 was like DOS and how you just might get mobbed as a king:

"I hate it when quest givers say 'Go to the woods! Go to the woods!' Shut the FUCK UP! I know where the woods are!"

regarding this "marrying well" thing.

does this mean i won't be able to marry someone and install them in a house in each town, like i did in fable 2? 7 wives, 18 kids later...

The less you have to due, the less of an RPG it is.

That need some major rewrite. Someone should jump in and rewrite my 1-line rewrite even better.

The less distinct ways you have of accomplishing something, the less of an RPG it is.

Diplomacy (non violent). "Good/Moral" verses evil/bad violence. Melee. Ranged. Stealth flank attack verses announced open frontal attack. Stealth with total violence avoidance. Single loner verses minimal party verses maximum party size. The list SHOULD go on and on.

Most RPG-like games only give your 1 or 2 options, but newer (less worldly) gamers assume that if a game has both melee and ranged with skill attributes where everything that moves must die, then it is a full blown RPG, and should be classified together with games that have dozens of distinct gameplay style options. "Oh my gosh, I can shoot them all in the head OR bash them all in the crotch. Either way my strength goes up. This is the best RPG ever!" Sigh.

edit: adding a quote from another thread
In fact, when Diablo came out there was a big debate in the community about whether it could be called an RPG at all, I suspect that was when 'action rpg' was created.

I dont know for sure, but if I had to guess I would imagine one could still do that in Fable 3.
