Fable2 is supposed to be a lot more open though, not on rails like Fable1. The videos show characters jumping fences and exploring all around and in one of the dev videos they said "if you can see it you can get to it".

I think it looks awsome, I'll be getting it the first day. I just need to find out where the list is of places you can pre-order from in order to get the mini-games for free. I read that the minigames which will cost 800 MS Points will be free withe the pre-order from particular places, but I don't know what places those are.

I shall have it the first day as well.

And as far as *if you can see it you can get to it*

amazon has it, I printed in pdf the day I preordered it so I can bitch at amazon if they don't come through. Gamestop still has it on their website for sure.

I honestly think this game will be free. Preorders just get it early. I mean its included in the actual game. Whether its integrated into the game or as an arcade title is unknown.

The mini games itself are rather boring as stand alone arcade games. I mean it really doesn't do much except gives you money for fable 2 and provides some items you can find in the game. I cannot imagine Microsoft thinking they can get away charging 10 bucks for 3 cheesy casino type games.

edit: I stand corrected. Microsoft seriously thinks they can charge people 10 bucks for it.

Speaking of Baulders Gate, any word on a BG3?
Bioware is focusing on their own IP. They claim that Dragon Age: Origins is the "spiritual successor" to Baldur's Gate 2.

Currently, Atari holds the exclusive D&D license for video games, so they would have to publish a Badur's Gate 3. Bioware is now a division of EA, not sure if that would work. The most likely candidate (the only company I would trust to do it correctly that is still in business other than Bioware) would be Obsidian Entertainment (formed by Black Isle Studios staff after Interplay fell apart). They did a great job with NWN2: Mask of the Betrayer as far as story driven, party based cRPGs go.

Baldur's Gate 3: The Black Hound was under development by Black Isle Studios (along with the real Fallout 3, Project Van Buren (play the pre-alpa (very buggy) demo here)) towards the end of the classical Interplay. An ex Black Isle Studios employee (Josh Sawyer of Icewind Dale 2 fame) is (or was, have not heard much about it lately) trying to create Baldur's Gate 3: The Black Hound using NeverWinter Nights 2's toolset (creating a user made module).

If you guys enjoyed Baldur's Gate 2, checkout PlaneScape Torment. It was made by Black Isle Studios (assisted in the Baldur's Gate franchise and developed Fallout 1 / 2) and is equal or even superior to Baldur's Gate 2.

What are these *free pub games* that you speak of ?

Edit: I see them mentioned on Gamestop, But any idea what they actually are ?

watch this video. it'll tell you what the 3 pub games are and what they are similar to.

I don't know exactly what the games are , but they are basically casino type games that you play OUTSIDE of Fable2.... but whatever gold you make playing these games will be credited to your character inside the game. It's a pretty cool idea, IMO.

And if you pre-order the game I think you get the pub games download next week .. so you will be able to build up some gold before you even play the game in October.

The Fable II Pub Games are coming to XBLA on Aug 13th.

For those who have pre-ordered Fable II to get the Pub Games, the date they become available has been announced. You will be able to start earning your cash on August 13. If you haven't pre-ordered but want to start hoarding cash, you can get the games for 800MS points.

I got to check out the three games, ?Fortune?s Tower,? ?Keystone? and ?Spinnerbox? at E3 a couple of weeks ago and had a lot of fun with them. It's obvious that each one is based on a familiar casino game but incorporate their own unique twists.

I spent most of my time (and lost all of my cash about 10 times) on Fortune's Tower. You bet against your own greed as you are dealt cards hoping to make the most cash possible from the sum of the cards in the current row. Makes complete sense, right? Let me stick a screenshot in to try and convey what the hell I'm talking about.

Your struggle with greed comes into play when you decide whether or not to keep dealing rows. If you're not careful, you may be dealt a card with the same face value as a card above it (that touches it). If that happens? Say, "Cheerio" to your cash. You can get lucky in this situation, however, if you are dealt a knight in that same row. He will come alive and magically restore a burned card.

Once, you play, you will see that my long-winded explanation actually makes sense and how easy the game really is to grasp.

Again, you can try your hand at this and the other two pub games on August 13.

I was gonna get this after Fallout 3 if I heard good things but I think I'll get it on Tuesday. I just watched a video review that made it look awesome. Also, you can trade with, hear, and chat with other players that are near you even though they really arent in your game.

Review from where?

IGN is supposed to have their review of Fable 2 up at 6am PST/9am EST in the morning.

I didn't play the first Fable, but Fable 2 has me intrigued, and I'm almost certain to get it at some point this week.

Mine from amazon already shipped. should be here by Wednesday or so. Maybe Tuesday if I'm lucky. But I don't have time to play it anyhow. I'm waiting on seeing reviews for Web of Shadows and Far Cry 2.

24th is the release date for Denmark, getting my copy on friday 🙂 Together with the new Crash game 😛

When the IGN review is posted, would someone mind posting it up here? It's blocked at work and may be slow to get posted to their mobile site.

I'll definitely be picking it up sometime, assuming it's actually a good game. What price point I buy it at will depend on whether any of my buddies decide to buy it - then there's co-op, which is awesome.
