F10 not loading Recovery....

I have a HP Pavilion7915 that has the recovery on a different partition...I am supposed to be able to hit F10 when the blue screen is up on startup - and it is suppose to go to the recovery screen. But it's not working!! i've tried and tried, even tried F11, and pretty much everything else. Can anyone help me? I need to reformat this machine!

I know this is dumb, but is there an F-Lock on the keyboard?

the F10 and F1 is working on like the bios setting page....

If you installed Windows XP or any other operating system it might have overwritten the boot-loader. It happened to a Dell machine that had XP and I installed Vista. When I tried going back to XP the recovery button would not work.
