F1 is starting tonight!!!!

I am wondering how it will be without Mr. Murray Walker 🙁. It's not going to be the same with Martin Brundel talking without constantly being interupted by Murray because he saw a dust cloud coming from behind someones car 🙂

Villeneuve looks like he didn't start off so well... he is 13th on the poll! Ouch

Yeah, looking forward to it......

Qualifying yesterday was a bit of a let down, I suspect we have not seen a lot of teams at their fastest as half the session was a wash out. Race should be interesting 🙂

Ferrari 1-2...hahaha... im sure it will be a lot closer in the race now... that would be pretty demoralising if a 2001 car wins... even if it has some 2002 bits... its still a year old aerodynamic wise.

It will be interesting because of the mix qual. order and alot of passing at first. Anyways, go Jarno Trulli!!!

Go Bimmer!!! That 875 someodd horses should help SOMEwhere along the lines, I hope. 😛 Scary to think that Ferrari is running the F2001 and still kicking @ss... :Q

Is it just me, or does anyone else utterly and completely hate that new play-by-play commentator Speed Channel got for this year?
The stuff he makes remarks on are pretty lame and dumb IMO, stuff that makes me say "OK, and.....????? (You're point being?!)"
I finally couldn't help but burst out laughing towards the end when they did the interviews with the top 3 qualifiers.
Ralf was answering and he just cut in and said something like, "A little more talkative than his brother, this is Ralf", while Ralf was addressing the question from the press present in Austrailia. Not ONCE, but TWICE during the SAME question. I have NEVER seen anything so RUDE before in my life!
Of course this is only based on one hour of qualifying thus far, but then again, if he's that bad for an hour, God knows what he'll do over a full season.

I belive Speedchannel beings its broadcast at 6:30 PST. An yes Rick Debruhl is a horrendous commentator. Another 'that guy' comment as well as his inane side comments almost ruined the first race weekend for me.

Too bad we can't get Bernivision over here in the states.

I think the conditions flattered the Ferraris, especially the Bstones over the Michelans. Race pace should be closer together- here's to hoping everyone gets through the first corner cleanly.

Hahaha... Ferrari won... well actually only one of them... the other one was too busy weaving around... so a BMW used him as launch pad. That was some crazy accident in the first corner... eager beavers. Anyway... Michael's pass on Montoya was awesome... kinda embarassing even that they won with a 2001 car... hahahaha...

That was one hell of a race! That pass by Schumaker was awesome!! I am still pumped from that race, and it went off almost 1.5 hours ago! Woooooohoooo!!

Race was awesome!!! I was rooting for Salo as he was pulling up on Webber, too bad he spun out.
That opening crash was crazzzy!!!

I needed that race after torturing myself by watching the IRL race earlier... whose dumbass idea was it to put open-wheel cars on ovals? :disgust:

Incredible opening race!

I really feel bad your guys who have to watch it on speedvision! When I turned it on to the start of the race the announcers talked as if it was the formation lap! Good thing it was on TSN though... good old James Allen
and Martin Brundel are a decent combo to listen to.

Haha, Toyota managed a single point not bad actually. Btw, Toyota was the fastest car thru the speed trap I heard.

Could not agree with you more!!!!! That IDIOT over at Speed Channel has got to GO GO GO!!! (As Murray would put it) What a flipping doink that guy is, an embarrassment to the sport in fact. You hear some of the comments he made?! The ones that immediately come to mind was when Trulli spun out after the restart with Michael tailing him, got out of his car, took two steps and ran back to put the wheel back on. That freaking *** ATTEMPTED to make a 'smart @ss' remark by saying 'Run Jarno, what are you DOING running back with the wheel?!' He OBVIOUSLY has no clue as to what Formula 1 racing is about, let alone the rules. Loved it when one of the colour guys cut him off saying that there's a 'gazillion dollar' fine if he doesn't put the wheel back on. That was so satisfying to hear someone shut him up like that..... Want more examples? "Here is Mark Webber, an Austrailian driver driving for an Austrailian team here in Austrailia......." repeated at LEAST four times in like the last 10 laps of the race. I mean, dooooooooode, STFU already!!!!! We got your God damn point the FIRST time!

Well, enough ranting for me on one race I guess... You guys probably had enough of him to begin with if you managed to survive listening to him the entire race. May I suggest a petition to Speed Channel to can this guy? Who's with me?

The SpeedChannel coverage was lame. There was no first lap excitement build up. I didn't even see the lights go off for the start of the race. The new guy is a lamer, he looks like he has no background in racing at all either.

I can't believe they didn;t red flag the race after the big opening crash. Too many cars got whipped out of the race on that one.

Man...as much as I like F1, that was a stupid race. Ralf needs a smack in the head for causing that pileup in the first corner.:|

Must say...Ferrari looks like the team to beat (again).

I have to admit I loved the race. Although, I wouldn't like for that to happen again this season🙂 Once is enough please! It was amazing to see such teams as Minardi and Toyota score points. Unbelievable really. And yes, Ralf is a complete idiot. What's ironic is he essentially did what Villeneuve did to him in Aus '01 but Villeneuve took blame for that. Ralf is trying to say that this was just a racing incident but I have to put the blame more on his end.

As for Speedvision (err Speed Channel now), that new guy is Rick DeBruhl. And he sucks. I noticed him during the Friday practice. He knows nothing about F1. And yesterday before the race he hosted the "Formula 1-01" show and he made this comment implying F1 was boring because of the lack of passing and the two other guys, Steve Machet and some other guy (forget his name) had to shoot him down explaining to him that most of the passes in NASCAR are due to drafting and nothing more and the only real pass for the lead comes toward the end of the race. Anyhow, he's made so many mistakes in his commentary. During qualifying he kept reiterating that Sato might not make it to the grid when it was obvious he would be allowed simply because the likes of Minardi have been allowed to race when they were outside the 107% rule on a dry day! He's got a lot to learn.

I'm just happy that I have TSN up here and get the ITV feed that used to have Murray Walker but now just has James Allen and Martin Brundle. They provide a lot of insight during the race compared to the Rick DeBruhl guy. BTW, Bob Varsha who was pretty damn good is now commentating CART races for Speed Channel.

Does TSN have their own bits to add to the coverage? Or is it entirely the ITV feed start to finish?
Cause you know how for example CTV or TSN carries a basketball game with like the NBC or TNT feed, they'll have their own little supplements sometimes such as their own half time show etc.
