Last week they updated the guide on my Comcast HD DVR.
While the new guide sucks, the new software does do somethings better than the old.

However, for the fourth time in less than a week it has not properly recorded a show. On three shows it just plays back to a certain point, say 5 minutes left, and stops. There is no way to get past this point. Another show recorded 45 minutes of an hour show and just ended recording.

A call to Comcast said they would make an appt.
Why the F would I need an appt? Either my box is bad (despite working flawlessly for two years before the software upgrade) or the software is bad. If its the box I wil l just exchange it.

If it happens again, goodby Comcast dvr.

There's a reason why they want to set up an appointment. The appointment will play out like this:

1. Guy shows up a few hours late
2. Guy looks at you cable box, fumbles through a few menus, records a few minutes to "test" it even though that won't possible recreate your problem where it stops most of the way though an hour long show
3. Guy tells you that the box works fine and it must be a problem with something you're doing
4. Guy leaves
5. Problem is not resolved
6. You get a $50 charge on your next cable bill for an appointment to resolve a problem that was your fault
7. Call in to complain, repeat steps 1 to 6 until you give up or run out of money

Eff that stupid DVR. Cut the cord and get tv shows from a place that shall remain nameless.

Get your sports somewhere else (if you require that stuff).

Best solution: Ditch Comcast, rent/buy/download/watch/whatever shows via hulu/itunes/whatever, save money while watching your blood pressure go down.

Had a small change to our dish dvr, when the show you are over in the guide is highlighted it's by green now instead of blue.

I thought it was something idiotic for St patty's day but it's still here and it's harder to read with that now.

heh guess I shouldn't be mad at my DVR that cuts out the last 30secs on NBC shows because of the timing.

When I had a comcast DVR I would always set it to record whatever show was after the one I wanted just to make sure it got the whole thing. I did that ever since it shut off with 2 minutes left in a football game I recorded.

Now I just have basic cable and couldn't be happier.

We've had two DVRs from Comcast for the last two years and neither have ever missed a scheduled show. Maybe we don't have this new update yet.

ftfy

And I always have to add 1 minute to get the end of shows.
