Looks like it does add options such as real-time monitoring and (unless I'm missing somehting) it doesn't let you check "Automatically mark all objects in result list" in the free version anymore. I may have to register this on GP to support an excellent utility.
 
think I will play with it for a day or two to make sure it really cleans and identifies all spyware - but in the end will buy the upgrade - we all need to support the small software developer as we resist the "MS evil empire" 🙂
 
Are you uninstalling your previous version before installing version 6?

I ran 5.x occasionally but I would often get confused. Any tips on how to run, configure? Somehow I misinterpreted how you run it and last time I had to run it 3 or more times before I got it right. Thanks.

I did a custom uninstall of Ad-Aware 5 selecting all and removing everything and then did the same w/ my RefUpdate
It still left the folders on the start menu but they may becuase I'm on my work's NT PC now

How many months did Lavasoft leave us out in the cold, unprotected from new spyware? I have found other solutions from more reliable companies that offer frequent updates!

Actually it looks like you need both. I hope that lavasoft issues frequent updates to paying customers, because if I were a paying customer during the 5.83 days, I wouldn't have been very happy. That having been said, on my system I used Adaware 6.0 which got rid of about 32 bad things and then spybot which couldn't find anything else. This is a major improvement over 5.83 which couldn't find many of the things spybot could. To be safe I will be running both periodically.
 
Bad cookies... I wouldn't base my decision on how many cookies it detected. It most likely is just deleting them all which I recommend. Neither of them can clean index.dat so neither is is up to par. However, I've tested both and spybot runs circles around ad-aware. Spybot can delete history from mozilla, netscape, opera. Can delete MRU in the registry from stuff such as streaming video, etc. Ad-aware set the precedent with 5.x but spybot took over and is definitely way better.

Not only that ...at work you can LEGALLY distrubute Spybot to each and every person. Ad-aware is for free for non-commercial use only.

©What?s this only cost $19 ? - when I look at the web site it show $27 ??

I know its only $8 diff - but breaking the $20 level is a psychological barrier 🙂
 
To be fully protected, you probably should run SpyBot and Ad-Aware. By the way, I just downloaded Ad-Aware 6, updated it, ran it, then ran SpyBot (after updating it)...SpyBot caught a couple of things that Ad-Aware didn't.

This is about other software installing spyware on your system not about bad cookies.
Deal with bad cookies with some sort of a cleanup progrum. You can't just visit "them sites" without cleaning up...:
They made an improvement with version 4.8 here.


P.S. In options of this program, MS-Office Tracks should be UNCHECKED as it will reset any changes made to MS Word > Tools > Options...
(It's safe to nuke everything else though I think.)
