I got a new computer with Windows Vista Premium (the bane of mankind, in my initial opinion) on it. Using an adminstrator account I installed F@H as a service on it, and the service shows up in the list of services as running. No F@H processes are showing up, however, unlike my WinXP boxes.

However it has been two or three days and my total fleet production doesn't seem to have budged much at all. The new box is an Athlon 64 4000+, substantially more horsepower than the other three computers in my fleet. How can I check to make sure this individual box is folding properly?

Related question-do I have to do anything to my firewall (either Windows Vista or McAfee, I can't recall) under Vista to accomodate F@H?

To install on Vista, step-1 is to never install FAH anywhere under \program files

Step-2, To install as service, it's not enough to use an administrator account, you need to make a shortcut to cmd, right-click on this, and choose "Run as Admin", before you can install as service...

(Ok, it's possible to disable UAC or by some method enable the account called 'Administrator'...)

Also worth mentioning, in case of SMP-client, service-installation doesn't currencly work correctly, as mentioned in the SMP-FAQ...

If you're logged-in as an admin-account, in Task Manager if you chooses "Show processes from all users" FAH should also show-up if it's running... Also, if it's working, "CPU Usage" should be 99%-100%, even if you don't see FAH as listed.

In whatever folder you installed FAH, there is among other things a fahlog.txt, just open this, and if everything works as it should at the end of file it should be updated atleast every 30 minutes (default 15 minutes).

The SMP-client would ask during setup to allow mpiexec and smpd to connect, not sure if also asks for the fah-client...

For "normal" client, again not sure if it asks for fah-client...

Sounds like I did it wrong from the get-go, my F@H folder is under Program Files.

How do I start over-stop the service and delete my current folder? Unfortunately I won't be able to get to that machine until after Xmas.
