Awesome, man! You are doing the BOINC version!

So did I miss something? What led you to the BOINC supposition?

With the latest distribution of WUs I'm receiving, I'd have little to loose with a round of Beta.

let me know if you find out we have that as an option! Thanks

Thanks for the stats Nate! Hope you feel better soon. I got hit HARD with the flu about a month ago and it knocked me out for three days and I still felt it for a week after that.

You must have missed the thread about the future BOINC client. They were going to do a closed beta and then a public beta.

Rattledagger, do I have to wait for the public beta to help test? (I already do beta for the regular clients) Ever since I started doing E@H I have bragged up how good BOINC Manager is :D ;) :D :p

p1190 and p638 were his WUs.

Maybe info at BOINC site?

Most has to do with Folding@home taking a short-cut, so they're basically running the cli from within BOINC, letting this connect to their own wu-server and does all upload/download.

This among other things means the wu-application is downloaded for each wu, doesn't respond to "disabled network access", isn't really ready to run so wastes time waiting on download/uploads. Doesn't respond correctly to aborting results, reset project or detach project. Problems with "ask before connect" even happening on non-modem-computers (it shouldn't under BOINC). Atleast one bug with linux there doesn't really detect wu has finished.

Last but not least, very short expected crunch-time from BOINC-schedulering, meaning you'll get assigned much too much work. Still, current work has 6 months deadline so...

Also some missing web-features, like overview of your computers.

Currently, you can only join a team as part of the sign-up-process.
You can't use a name someone is already using on the team. AFAIK this last is a design-decision so will not be changed...

You will get "normal" Folding@home-credits, but they will also start exporting BOINC-stats... when they've found the correct Cobblestone-convertion-factor. This basically means you'll compete in Folding, but at the same time compete in total BOINC-stats if you uses the BOINC Folding@home-version.

Atleast at the moment, there are a limited number of folding-projects you'll get assigned work from, has got both Tinker and Gromacs. As for speed, don't really know...

The beta isn't opened-up yet...

I'm probably the last one to answer this due to my limited knowledge but I never let that stop me. :p
RD has been involved with Setiboinc and maybe even other BOINC projects but is associated in my mind with Setiboinc. Very involved with testing and very knowledgeable about the inner workings.

I'm doing Setiboinc and did Predictor/Boinc (another folding project) for a while, and he was very helpful where Set@Home was concerned.

RD feel free to correct me......................
