Congratulations to the Milestone Makers!

Welcome to the 10k Club, Pokey_TA :)

Thanks for the stats, Hyperfocal!

I don't know much about AMD procs, so I'm asking: Is 450 a day about right for this much power? I would have guessed points per day should be some higher.
Markfw900, I'm asking again here for you because I want to make sure. If it should be higher maybe we can figure out how to get it there! :)

450 a day is really low for what you are running. The AMD processors will be slower than the Intel on most WU's Make sure you have ADVMETHODS and FORCEASM turned on.

my 2200+ & 2800+ are getting right at or just over 200 points per day. (and I tie up the 2800+ for 4-8 hrs a day with video editing)If I'm not mistaken you should be getting somewhere around 750 - 950 a day with those rigs. (keep in mind some WU's take a day or 2 to complete, so you have to watch it for a week to see what you are averaging)

One more thing for him to try on those Athlons is -forceSSE, I set it yesterday on mine and saw the big performance boost on Gromacs WUs I've read about both here and elsewhere.

I have some bad RAM in my box and -forceSSE does make my system unstable, but if I run Windows in "Safe Mode with Networking" things are solid for the most part. Well folding is, anyway... my 3d games will have to wait for those new DIMMs in the mail to arrive :)

The top one is a Tinker, and the bottom is a Gromacs. Is this your dual Opteron box? I know there is a lot of variance between work units, but those times are almost identical to the ones I see on my box. Which would make sense since I think the Opteron 248 and Athlon FX-51 deep down inside are just about identical. It's just that you have two of them

Yup, thats the two windows on the dual 248's at 2.2. Glad to hear the times are good. I keep seeing suggestions about how to force things. How is that done ? I have the Athlon XP's, One Athlon64 and two Opteron cpu's folding (I have 3 other boxes, but not running folding)

The way I force for the graphical F@H client on Win2K, the method is probably similar for XP:
Start -> Program Files -> F@H folder -> *right click* on the shortcut for F@H itself -> then select properties. The Windows "Properties" dialog box then pops, there should be three tabs at the top. The middle tab "Shortcut" has an entry box called "Target" that shows the locale of the F@H executable (commonly WinFAH.exe). This will be enclosed in quotes, to the right I add various force flags. Mine looks like:

"C:\Program Files\Folding@Home\WinFAH.exe" -forceSSE -verbosity 9

Other flags besides -forceSSE which people here at AnandTech and other forums tend to recommend:

-forceasm which seems very similar to -forceSSE (there are subtle differences not yet apparent to me)
-advmethods which increases the likelihood you get more Gromacs WUs
-verbosity 9 boosts the number of messages written to your log file

I bet there are other flags out there but I am still a F@H n00b and I don't know any others :)

Anyway it took a little over 8 hours to fold my latest 47 point Gromacs, if I keep getting those, I guess that averages out to just below ~150 pts. a day for the TeAm. My 239 point Tinker the other day took about 36 hours, which is around ~150 pts. a day as well. So since you have two of the same processor as mine I would think that you can get ~300 pts. a day on the dual Opteron box, so this one is probably not at the root of your problems. As for why you are around 400/day overall, I would check up on those other Athlons, either they are running real slow or (hopefully) you are due for a 1000+ point day some time soon when a bunch of Tinkers get done

Markfw900, make sure you also use the -local flag.

Here is a page with all the flags for the console: http://folding.stanford.edu/console-userguide.html

The console client is named FAH4Console.exe, the GUI version is winFAH.exe.

I don't know about this: "The AMD processors will be slower than the Intel on most WU's". orion7144 has been around alot longer than me and I respect what he says, but I have seen some great times from AMD procs. It's the hyperthreading on Intel P4s that can give an advantage. IMO
