F@H problem - 5 units can;t be transmitted for 5 different computers !

I am about ready to quit. If they can;t take my packets and give me more, I will go elsewhere... a-holes.....

It can get frustrating 😕

Though I am not having a problem.

The only servers not up are: .117, .121, .124, .150
It looks like only the first two had been active lately.

What servers can you not connect to?

Are you using the newest client? It will send to a Collection Server if it cannot connect to where the WU came from!

And all 5 have the same message for the same .127 IP address.

OK, I downloaded client 502, and I used to have 5.0. All 5 dumped (I will have a great 10pm score if it all counts). Why would that make such a difference ?????

I dumped over 600 points if it all counts at the 10pm PST count !!

I'm hopping between threads here, lol

If you remove the -advmethods flag you will get sent to a different server.

Server .127 only sends advmethod and beta WUs.

OR: try reconfiguring to accept BigWUs!

OK, how do I reconfigure to only accept big WU's !!!!! Every box I have has a gig of ram and 3 ghz equivalent.

And the SOB F@H server didn;t count any of my units yet. They will go onto tomarrow amd I was having a bad day. SOB's..... 30 minutes later, and I still don't get credit ???

It can take, I think, up to three hours for the points to show.

Make a new shortcut to FAH502-Console.exe and add the -configonly flag. When you start this it will go into configure mode. Make sure you say yes to WUs over 5MB.

You also need the -advmethods flag to get BigWUs.

You might see a dip in points for a day or two, these 600 point WUs take a while to finish.

But I am excited to see how much this helps your ppd average 🙂

I just reconfigured 9 cpu's to this setting. I hope you are correct. We wil soon see. Right now I am averaging 1500 point/day....

I did make sure they are all runiing 5.02 and with ONLY the -advmethods flag (after the -configonly to set the bigwu thing)

Thanks Gleem ! Why didn't I find this out before !!!!!!!! This needs to be common knowledge ! (at least I didn't know, and I read here a bit)

OUCH!

I know that was painful, but it sounds like you are back in the game now. Glad to hear it.

1500 PPD..... AWSOME

-Sid

edit: it isn't unusual to have results take a few hours to show up in the stats. On the brighter side, I am not aware of any work that I didn't get credited for eventually.

@Markfw900

Sorry you slipped through the cracks about the Double Bonus Point BigWUs.

I thought I harped about it for a long time, but here is some more 🙂

Knock, knock! ALL FOLDERS, if everyone that could was crunching BigWUs the TeAm would be averaging like 65,000 or more instead of 40,000. This would put our production at ~15 of all teams! And we would not have been passed the other day.

Ok I'll bite. Let me figure out how to get bigwus running... And when my new rig arrives I'll setup 2 cli's with bigwus too. Although I'm wondering if the new method of doing points for smaller wus will balance it.

The GUI version seems to have a configure button on it so I didn't need to make another shortcut. I set it to accept files bigger than 5mb now.

I just finished a 63 point Gromacs WU (don't know why it got slipped in there... been doing 600 pt. WUs consistantly before and after it.... must have been a busy server at assignment time.)

63 Pt. Gromacs = 119 PPD
600 pt. Gromacs = 218 PPD

-same machine-

(as estimated by FAH LogStats)

If you can do the big ones, they are definitely worth it.

Well I estimate that it will take 3700 minutes to crunch these puppies (2 1/2 days), so that means each machine will onlt get less than 250 PPD. I thought I was doing better than that.... And tomorrow will svck in points ! And they take over 104 meg of memory !!!

man I am glad you got it fixed! I just set mine to do the big WU's last week, hope it's working!

FWIW I have found many DC projects to be somewhat of a pain more than one time to "Fix"!

I keep at it anyway but it has many times tried my patience.

1500 ppd divided by 17 computers = 88.2 points per computer

17 computers x 250 ppd = 4250 ppd :Q 😕

Nah, I would still guess less than 3000 ppd

This is the main reason they are worth double points, and they take longer to download/upload.

EDIT: Be patient and trust me 🙂

Gleem, thanks. We will see by Thursday..... Wed should be bad, thursday could be over 3000 PPD !Oh, and not all of my 17 machines are reconfigured.... Only 9. Some of the rest are my sons, and a couple at work that I can't run in that config....
