F@H peeps - can i configure to get small wu for my laptop?

lately my laptop has been getting small wu, which is fine by me because 1/2 the time it is on battery so not crunching, but yesterday i got one that is either 20,000 or 200,000 (not sure what the number is but before this one they were 400-1000). i don't think this one is going to get finished in time since the laptop does get disconnected from the wall and is used like a laptop.....i feel it is going to be a waste.

anyway i can send in what it has done and just get smaller wu's?

The number of steps don't necessarily determine how long a WU will take.

If there are 20,000 steps but it only takes a few seconds per step would be a big difference from 2,000 steps that took many minutes per step.

The WUs are benchmarked on the same computer. They have a formula that determines the points and deadline. The more points the longer the deadline. If you can finish a 50 point WU in time then you can finish a 600 point WU in time.
