Did my response to your question here not help? I had suggested setting up the client to run in the background as a system service (tutorial for that here). Did you experience difficulties while following those methods?

I'm kinda scouting around for a new project. Can this one be used with any degree of success over dial-up?

one one hand, yes, on the other hand... no.
Why yes? Hmm, I consider the WUs rather big (my poor old Celeron 366@458 is working nearly a week on a standard WU), but you cannot cache WUs (which is not recommended anyway). There is a way to do that tho, you could run the F@H client with a slightly higher than minimum priority and another project without time limits as F@H running on G@H WUs. Whenever your main client runs out of work the backup gets the CPU... and as soon as you go online the main client gets another WU.

I'm running my systems with F@H over a shared dialup connection, and it works ok (not as good as if I had broadband, but I can't do that, so I'm stuck with this). The only issue is that you pretty much have to be able to set it up for demand dialing; that is, so that the client can trigger a connection when it needs it.

Hi all..
I just joined about 3 weeks ago :)

I'm alredy ranked 64!! Team Anandtech really needs more dedicated members... Since less than half the team is really dedicated.

Anyway, My profile here @ http://folding.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/userpage?q=_2umXZ

I only have 2 rigs available for folding. My main rig and a bare Duron 800 rig dedicated to F@H

Cheers!

We have over 350 members, but only about 33% of those are active. Part of this is because there was a big F@H recruiting effort a long time ago, when we got lots of members, before the great TA vs. DSLR (now known as BBR) SETI race. During that race, many of us (myself included) helped out Team AnandTech SETI. Unfortunately, after the race was over, many members who would have returned decided instead to stick with SETI or jump over to one of the other "folding" projects. Ever since, our performance has not been very great, and a drop in the ranks has become a common occurence for us.

Yes I think Anandtech team members should participate more. I have seen only the first three person those get very high score. Now Anandtech team ranking @ 21 but not for long Team OCF will replaced your place. I'm sorry to say that I am a member of OCF, I wish I had more system so I could join Anandtech team also.:)

You will get added to the stats as soon as you complete your first work unit.

Bump because I just used it. Right now I'm basically using it to stress test my new TbredB @ 2200, but maybe I'll stay. :) I usually run Find-A-Drug and it has been nice being able to keep an eye on the stats with a little icon in the tray. I used the service install to keep it out of my taskbar, but a little tray icon would be nice... is there some way to get realtime stats?

Bump.

Which reminds me, I need to update my thread (and FAQ) with some new information sometime (the sooner the better). *sigh*
