I've installed the cli client on my k6-233 earlier this evening, how do i know how much of the WU it's done?

Also, how long do you reckon it would take to get a WU done? Specs are as follows:

MSI 5156 Socket 7 mobo
AMD K6 233MHz
64MB 72pin EDO ram
4gb hdd
Running Windows 98

Thanks

I usually look at the progress opening the FAHlog.txt file that is on the same dir as the FAH2Console.exe...

As it is working, it will say "Finished a frame (x)", where x is a number between 1 and 100. When it reaches 100, it has finished that unit, and will then send it to the server and get another one.

..and for a processor of that venerable nature, you can probably expect at least 36 hours per work unit, and perhaps more. Still, I think I read that 72 hours is allowed by the powers that be.

It's done 2% then, and it's been going for about....6hrs :Q

Not sure if this will make the 72hr cutoff!

It looks like my PII-400 is going to take about 4 days to do this current WU. :( The first was done in less than a day.

Is the CLi much faster? Or has no one done benchmarks yet?

ConfusedBW - you are DEFINITELY *below* the minimum machine to run F@H. About the slowest to get in under the 72 hour limit is a K6-2/333 (been there done that) and possibily a P2/300 vintage. Nothing in the 2xx will make it.

However, if you want, you could use that machine on G@H. TA has a G@H team as well and there' no hard and fast time limits on the WUs. :)

Dasm! Why they put a time limit on it! :(

Poof, you got any info on G@H?

The time limit is there because the result you turn in is used to create another WU to be sent out to everyone. The project is based on us simulating the steps to fold a protein, but we're doing it one step at a time. So if you finish a WU that looks lilke a good candidate to be an actual step, that result will prompt the data server to create a WU with parameters that could potentially lead to a result that will be the next step in the fold. :)

G@H info can be found here. (same group as F@H in charge at Stanford - but different programmers/scientists)

[EDIT: TA's stats are here. Note the team number 604374405 if you sign up! :)]

Thanks Poof, it's all set up now :)

Will leave it overnight and see how it's doing in the morning :)

ya your processor needs to be at a minimum of 300mhz and run 24/7 at that time to stand a chance.

My Pll 233 with 256mb ram just did it's first wu in about 55hrs, and it's 2% into it's second one :) Sounds like a good place to stop it and load the console 2.17 version :)

Okay, Firedaemon loaded, console loaded, program picked up right where it left off, life is good:cool:
