F@H CLI vs GUI

I only have a couple of Intel machines, one a single processor Xeon running CLI and GUI, and then a P4 laptop running GUI. It appears that only the CLI on the Xeon is getting the QMD projects. Is this a given? and is it because of the "CLI" or because of the "Xeon". The P4 laptop has 512 MB ram and I have the -forceasm and -advmethods flags set but it doesn't get QMD's, and neither does the GUI on the Xeon.
Would it make a difference to change the laptop to use the CLI? and what about running two CLI on the Xeon?

Can the GUI be set to download WUs > 5 MB?

To get QMDs you need a P4 or Xeon, at least 512 MB ram, the client set to download WUs > 5MB, and have the -advmethods flag set.

After trying every possible combination of WUs on Intel HT, the best ppd was made by running one QMD! (actually two QMDs gave the same ppd on my P4 with 1 GB ram)

Oh Oh, looks like you will start catching up to me 😉

YES, and I set that check box at inception.

I looked at the RAM and it appears that there is 64MB of shared Video RAM, so it is reporting 448 MB. That may be enough to prevent the bigger WU's.

I'm not getting my hopes up............ 😀 ............yet.

Thanks GLeeM.

A while back, the needed amount of ram was a little less to allow for some shared video ram. It used to be 470 MB.

I can't find a reference to the current minimum.

When I get time I am going to replace the GUI with the CLI on the P4 as an experiment to see if it attracts a QMD project.
