F@H and multiple computers?

Just started F@H and giving it a trial run. Everything installed ok and seems to be almost done with 1st wu. What needs to be done to add several computers under same name? Also as I look to build another machine, what processor/cache/ram,etc..., does F@H seem to run fastest on? Thanks

Hi leconc!
When you configure F@H on the other computers, use the same user ID and a team number of 198.

The more Ghz the better. F@H does well on AMD and Intel. AMD does some WUs faster than Intel. With HT P4s you can run two instances to advantage. SSE and SSE2 definately help.

I've read where someone switched from one processor rigs to dual processor rigs to save money on electricity. A faster rig gets more done for less electricity. Those who have done DC for years say it is the cost of electricity, not the cost of the computer that adds up.

You can use the same username on multiple computers (and remember to enter Team number 198), but do not install F@H on one system and then copy the same folder to another; Bad Things (tm) will happen if you attempt to do that. Of course, you can download the client .exe onto one computer and copy that to other systems, but please avoid copying the whole folder post-installation. 🙂
