For instance, Tomb Raider, which dropped to third this week, beat it with its opening $48 million of last weekend......

And while F&F wasn't even close to setting opening records, its opening paid for the movie already, which cost $38 milion to make. But it'll be interesting to see if the movie has legs and holds its take for the next weeks or fades rapidly like Boob Raider has. Let's see if the under-25 demographic can hold the movie's top position......which I personally think won't happen.

An interesting side note......last night, after the final showing of the movie in Long Island, a street race between a Lamborghini and a Corvette ended in a crash and the death of the Lambo's driver.

And, of note, police gave out about 10,000 racing tickets to punk kids who thought their Hondas and Eclipses could run like the ones in the movie. :D

I heard a "trailer" on the radio for F&TF, and at the end there was a "Jackass" style disclaimer saying kids shouldn't try racing like that.

Course, you'd think anyone who could afford a lamborghini would have the common sense to know he could blow the doors off of the 'vette rather then try and do it. Didn't the 'vette driver get cited for manslaughter? I just heard the tail end of the story on the news this morning. Maybe I'll have to check CNN for it

I couldn't find it on CNN. I dunno where Bob and Tom get their news, maybe the AP?

I'm checking there now.

Was I the only person who thought that F&F sucked a$$?

I went to the show wasted, and even that did not help. No plot, no sense, just a lot of loud car noises. Hell, there wasn't even a lot of racing, when you think about it.

The producers better hope that the ads pay off for another couple of weeks; doubt there will be a lot of repeat viewers.

I beg to differ. I haven't seen the movie yet, but just with the buzz on this forum about the movie, I think it's going to do just fine. It may even be one of the summers bigger blockbusters. It caters to the biggest group of people that go to the movies. Teenagers. I would say the majority of teenagers will love this movie because it deals with Hondas and Supras and cars that THEY drive. This movie is going to be a big one IMO.
