I dont know. The DL cooked along then just died. The link is now dead also. I suspect that yahoo cut the file or something. I cant initialize another download.

finished d/ling it and it installed fine from yahoo

Havent loaded it up yet. Will do so later today.
 
still downloading from fileshack...what was supposed to be a 20min wait ended up being over an hour...grr...
but its download ~230kb/s...51% done, have 24mins left...

I so wish i had seen that yahoo link earlier. that was downloading fast.

I'm excited to play.

My file is downloading without the 17MB stop, which means it's probably not corrupted. Thanks for the Yahoo link, and thanks Yahoo! :heart:

EDIT: Ugh, it IS corrupt. I'll just wait in line for fileshack while I play GTA:SA. 😀
 
Yes, the demo does crash at places. For me it just completely froze up the computer (right before that spot.)

I still played through it all. On medium/high settings 10x7 (no aa/af) it ran great! (ok, playable...like 30fps and slight stuttering). Still, in my mind thats very playable, so i say it ran great! 😉

Other then that, it was a very pretty game, and creepy...that ladder part....jeez. Can't wait for it to come out! 🙂

Goddammit, I hate DSL for only working at 78kbps. Uber annoying. Should've stayed with cable.
 
Eh....

The graphics are nice, BUT, they really should've learned from Doom 3 that per-pixel lighting SUCKS. The lighting is horrificly ugly. Shadows are mostly black and look unnatural. They need to realize that pre-rendered lighting is STILL the way to go.

Gameplay was nice but nothing revolutionary. Normal running and shooting. A bit difficult, so good AI.

And I like the creepy feeling, but the 100% rip-off of The Ring is stupid, IMHO.
 
I just finished the demo on my crappy x800xl, I click Auto-Detect it made resolution 1024x768 and most stuff maximum, some medium, overall very nice look and I ran fraps, was getting 60-100fps, which is really where anyone should be aiming because the human eye can only see 60 fps. Anyways it was lagless, I am sure once I get some good 2GB ram I will be able to push it further, or maybe when the programmers release a patch to fix it 😛.

grr.... it doesnt support 1280*1024!!!!

the highest it goes for me is 1280*960

oh well, around 50 FPS with everything high, except texture (medium) and no soft shadows no aa/af with my 6800le
 
It was smooth for me, everything maxed, soft shadows on, 4x AA, 16x AF, 10x7, with an A64 3200+, gig of PC-3200, X800 XL PCI-E.

I have the same card...better processor and I can't do that :S I don't know what you consider smooth, run FRAPS while you play the demo and take a screenshot of your frames per second.
 
Runnin mostly medium, and a couple things high w/ my A64 3000+, 9800pro and 1gig pc3200. 1200x600 res and it's really dam smooth. A lot smoother than doom3 and it looks better too. Usually demos are really choppy (cough...BF2...cough) but this is a sign of great things to come 🙂. Pretty creepy and I'm very happy to have a challenging FPS coming. It'll make the game seem longer.

I don't mess with stuff like that because it doesn't matter. It was smooth to me playing, and THAT'S all that matters, even if that's a mere 25 fps.
 
I'm amazed people don't see the crappiness of these graphics. I saw it in D3, I see it in Q4 screenshots, and I'm seeing it again in this game. Per-pixel lighting does not work in this day and age well. Most shadows in this game are pitch black. That's the best way to make a game look completely unrealistic.

I never said it was 25 fps...

Forget the FRAPS crap, just max the settings and play, you'll probably be surprised how acceptable it is. If it's not acceptable THEN lower it. I don't know why people concern themselves with the numbers.
