My computer just died and I have 3 major programming projects due this coming wednesday. I'm up a certain creek without a paddle if I don't get anohter one tomorrow. I cannot do them on the linux box. GRRRRRR

On the bright side, I just (today) was cleared of $2312.90 of credit card debt. It's very hard to pay off, so new college students beware... Don't get one, and if you do, try to get on your parents' so that you can't use it for anything but emergencies. Student credit cards are just an excuse for creditors to charge higher interest rates. Be cautious the choices you make now regarding credit could very well affect you for many years to come.

If you have programming projects, my guess is you are acomputer science major.

Shouldn't you know how to fix your computer ?

What do you mean "died"?

Really, c'mon, that's why we're all here, right? Anandtech is a hardware site, after all. :)

Yeah, post what the problem really is. Computers rarely break completely. Most likely, only a few parts need to be replaced under $200.

You'd be surprised about what some computer "science" majors don't know about computers. ;)

Yeah, some CS students (and graduates, for that matter) don't seem to understand computers all that well. Some of them are just in the major for the money, and some of the others really like the math and problem solving stuff more than the hardware part of CS. I found it amusing that some of my professors had a PhD in Computer Science, but still had no idea how to install software on their office computers without screwing them up :)

Unfortunately, many of the people who are just in it for the money seem to get promoted to management, where they make programmers lives a living nightmare! :(
