It is especially disrespectful for the port authority to only have one or two booths maximum open that take cash. They're the real jerk offs, not the drivers that don't want to buy into the ez pass program. I drive in NYC and do not want ez pass. Why should I pay a dollar a month if I do not commute every day by car? Even if I did, I would take the 3rd ave bridge which is free and avoid the TriBoro anyway.

By now 80% of the people have it. Most cars that I see use the ez pass lanes

I feel like the government should only have one tollbooth collector per road and have every other lane as ez-pass only.

save money and inconvenience tourists? sounds like a win-win to me.

How will they know this? Is there some kind of camera that takes a picture of all people in the car when they go through an EZ-Pass toll system?

Comparitively, the $1/mo. fee kills the carpool discount for me. The way they know is you have to go thru an EZ-Pass/Cash lane and they actually look at you to count the passengers. Good for everyday carpools, bad for those who are going out of town for a weekend and want to just get there. I don't want to wait in line so it defeats the purpose.

And I can't believe the people who don't want to do an EZPass because they fear the gov't can track them. We infrequently travel but when we do, getting through the tolls without stopping far outweighs the *possibility* of the gov't tracking where we are on the road. Big deal if they know. Do you carry a cellphone? Throw that out too.

more importantly, when you buy your ezpass, it comes with a bag that can block it from being read.

keep it in your glove compartment and when you're driving down to the Pine Barrens to dump a body, you just stick your ezpass in the bag and pay the toll with cash.

Just make sure the body doesn't have an ezpass in one of his pockets.

Anyone who lives in NYC-NJ shouldn't whine about a $1/month charge.
I believe that a body counts as a person if you're using the carpool lane.

You have to be careful that your non East coast system is compatible.

Denver has EZ Toll. Systems are not the same. Picked up $100 in extra fees.
Commonality exists from MA to MD and along I80 states to Illinois.
