Link For Router

The Barricade? is an ideal all-in-one networking solution for home and small business users. This protocol independent multi-functional broadband router is combined with a 4-port 10/100 Mbps dual-speed switch, and incorporates both a built-in print server and an Internet firewall for security against hackers and other unauthorized users.

Cool find, bonkers325.
Wasn't there a rebate on that too?
Sad that Staples doesn't carry those...

But shipping is free at Onvia.
And anyhow, who buys from egghead?
From many online resellers, I had the biggest problems with them.
Boycott egghead.

I use this small baby everyday to share DSL among 3 home computers. Fast, versatile and easy to config. The printing sharing makes my Laser printer networked, shared by all my computers no matter Windows or Linux. It's so convinient. The incoming port forwarding even makes my Linux box whatever server it wants to be.

There's a CDROM which comes with your SMC Router. After installation of the inside driver, you will have a PRTmate printing port added in your control panel's printer config. Then you can install your printer driver on this port.

On the router part, there's no more work than just connecting your printer to router's paralle port. The router will recognize printer automatically.

Have fun in networked printing.

I think the site you are talking about is Practically Networked. I personally have this router and had a little trouble setting it up. Called SMC tech support and was up and running in 5 minutes. My fault cause I didn't read the instructions carefully. I think this is a great deal. I bought mine for 120 even after the old rebate. I setup my old Epson 740 on the Printer server function and me and my roommate are sharing this printer. Works Great! Couldn't be happier with this router.

Forget the LinkSys, these gateways work great and you can't beat the addition of the print server and serial port for an external modem.

Just ordered one. Great deal made better by that $25 IBM gift certificate I had on file with Onvia for that referral promotion they had going on a few months back.;)

Got one on order, along with an SX1030 case for the box I'm planning on building. Will let you know how easy or difficult it is for a newbie to set up.

Great buy on this. I got mine for $120 a few months back. Nothing like being able to ship the significant other off to another room while you get some quality gaming in. :) Great piece of hardware at that price.

StarTech,

Serial port is used for a dial up connection should you lose your cable/DSL connection.

A.K.A.,

SMC does have an 8 port one linkified

Thanks Matmax..

I knew about that one but I needed a real 8 port router, that one is only 7 ports.
Linksys 8 port still the best option for me so far.

CompUSA is selling this router for $99 AFTER an $80 mail in manufacturers rebate. Could we use this rebate with Onvia or Egghead so the net price would be $20?
