i was looking in to doing an eyefinity setup but wanted to know what monitor resolutions are good or does it matter ? like 1366x768, 1400x900, 1600x900, 1680x1050 etc.

You're going to be running at multiples of the resolutions you mentioned. Obviously, higher resolutions put more of a demand on your GPU(s) and so, require more capable graphic cards.

no was asking if it mattered if the monitors were 1920x1080 or 1366x768 etc ?

You always want to use the native resolution of the monitors you use but, it's not set in stone. Eyefinity itself doesn't care, it's merely the firmware that the capable graphic card(s) use.

Just wanted to know if it mattered about what the monitors res's were thats all ?

my GPU doesn't even support eyefinity ? i'm looking into getting an HD 7950 ?

Yes, it does. All AMD GPUs support eyefinity.

That is the specifying we meant. With a 7950, yes, you can run eyfinity at 5760x1080, but not at max. Probably high.

high settings are cool with no AA.. and no not all AMD gpus support eyefinity only HD 5xxx series and up ? AMD eyefinity was created in 2009 when HD 5000 was released ? my gpu is from 2008 ?

Look at the link before jumping to conclusions. The 4870 DOES have eyefinity.

I think you'd be better off with just 1 much nicer display at a high res like 2560x1440 as opposed to trying to do 3 monitors at such a low res.

Of all I know that went Surround/Eyefinity. None still uses it.

So I can only agree, get a bigger nicer screen.

Do these old monitors happen to be the exact same size and resolution?
Do they have thin bezels?
Can they be lined up perfectly side to side?

If the answers to any of those questions is "no", then don't bother.

Don't bother then. You'll either have to deal with having big gaps in the action (bezel correction) or have a weirdly distorted image (no bezel correction).
