Well if the phenom 2 is like the 3xxx series, than next gen should compete better - as they are on the right track. That said, I will get an i5 750 soon - as heat and power is better. Just waiting for these new vid cards to be available. Hope it is not too long.

I am certainly well off topic.

The interesting thing to me was that they are finally bringing display port more into the mainstream. I have been a fan of it for several years but support for it is sparse compared to DVI . Getting those 6 panels is much cheaper with display port since a lot of the hardware that displays use now can be offloaded to the video card. Think of it like the video cards frame buffer connecting almost directly to the screens controller, both sharing the same one, rather than the video card storing the data, buffering it, sending it over the wire, lcd display buffering it, then displaying it.

The downside is it is not compatible with DVI or HDMI.

Looks like I'll be in the market for 2 more 24" monitors and a new gpu.

Good thing my living expenses are about to decrease..

I'm actually somewhat impressed with Eyefinity...especially since I play race sims...but even a fps with a 3 monitor setup would look pretty nice. All that's needed now are the right monitor setups.

Well I guess that ends one debate, and starts a whole new one.
Instead of "when will we have a card that can play Crysis with everything on highest?" it's going to be "When will we have a card that can play Crysis with everything on high on 5 monitors?" (6 doesn't work for FPS games)
