So, does anyone know of a good way to relieve the effects pollen allergies have on the eyes, but without any further drying of the eyes?

I have dry eye syndrome... and I'm not entirely confident Restasis is doing anything much for me, then again, I do compound matters through stubbornness, as I refuse to give up my contacts. Hell, even with allergies, I'm keeping my contacts in when I'm out of the house.

Anyhow, most eye allergy drops end up drying out the eyes, and sadly, I think general allergy meds, like Zyrtec and similar, tend to dry out the eyes too. And they are my only relief right now, I'm getting hit bad with some kind of grass allergy since nothing else is exactly growing.

I'd like to relieve the allergies without making my eyes any drier, since my eyes are already dry. And drier now thanks to Zyrtec. And contacts. Yes, I'm kind of screwed and screwing myself in this matter. Still... any help? 🙂

You need to take minimum 2 tablespoons a day and within a couple of weeks, your dry eyes will be greatly relieved. It won't hurt to also up your water intake.

I already take an Omega 3 and 6 supplement (although, not as routinely as I should), and that's the only real major draw of Hemp Seed oil is the EFAs... and better to get more Omega 3s than 6s in general.

In short, fairly certain I have a case of D.E.S. that is not related to EFA intake.

I already know about all the alternative treatments for Dry Eye Syndrome. I'm more or less looking for allergy relief that doesn't further dry out my eyes.

Have you tried the different OTC general allergy meds? Zyrtec may cause dry eyes, but I've had pretty good luck with Claritin (general = Loratadine). Can't hurt to give it a try - it's like 5 bucks for a month's supply at Target typically. If not, it might be worth going to see the optometrist over. Dry eyes can be a pain and, if you've got the resources, why not visit a doctor for further info?
