if that's what powers the SGS3, then how much faster is it than the SGS2? i'm looking to upgrade mine this summer (sgs2 is getting old now i think)

They'd have to be manufacturing S3s right now if they're planning to ship in June, right? Especially if they're truly targeting a world-wide simultaneous deployment.

I would think that, at a minimum, the hardware specs should be finalized and production should start ramping up. Software side has time to be polished though.

Personally, I think its more likely that the Exynos 4412 will power the SGS3.

This looks nice. Two faster CPU cores are probably going to offer more practical performance over quad cores for the foreseeable future and the additional graphics power will be a nice addition. Can't wait until we start getting performance leaks from this thing.

worldwide? no, it would be europe and asia surely? north america would be left out for a while as usual due to it's insane carrier demands like with the sgs2. "we want our version to be bigger" etc etc, as well as having to make a CDMA variant for verizon. doesn't one variant of the sgs2 in the states use snapdragon instead of exynos?

http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/19/alleged-exynos-5-specs-leaked-in-slide-show-spyshot/ Here is the link to the Engadget article. If only it was used in other phones not rubbish Samsung phones :L

The only thing that is "rubbish" with Samsung phones is perhaps the build quality wich is entirely subjective

they provide excellent screens, camera sensors, socs, memory etc

Motorola and HTC have phones that feel good in the hand but they are cheap with the insides, either its a crappy screen or poor camera sensor or slow processor.

either way, i'm hoping for a 5" sgs3 with a 1080p screen

I think the ideal screen would be 5" at 1920x1200 but 1920x1080 would be slimmer and might be more practical in that sense. The problem Apple has is that the aspect ratios they have are either 4:3 (tab) or 3:2 (phone) and when they finally update the iPhone to have a larger screen they may find it necessary to change to a less square ratio otherwise the phone would tend towards being too wide. Of course, I doubt Apple will go bigger than 4" so cutting back the bezel may be enough. But, an aspect ratio of 3:2 on a phone with a 5" screen would be as wide as the Note and be WAY too odd looking...

Samsung's improved substantially with this. The GNex, for example, is MUCH better than the Fascinate. I could bend that phone with pinky and pointer fingers.

Moto is all over the board with quality. Some of their devices are great, and only hampered by the locked bootloader and Blur skin. Others seem to put the worst of the worse together, Blur+Tegra2+Pentile=Yuck.

From what I read, that's AT&T's version of the Galaxy Nexus.

I wouldn't call that a Galaxy Nexus. It's a Galaxy S II HD LTE, which has been released in other countries as well. A Nexus device gets its updates straight from Google and has no 3rd party skins.

I wouldn't call it a Nexus either... it's just what I read somewhere.

I'm not against high resolution or anything but seriously what would be the point of that? What would be one good, even rare use? 720P on my phone's 4.3" screen is already ridiculous... seems like an infinite resolution at that size.

Pentile is a non problem. The GN might be improved over the GSI but it really is shitty and feels lacking when you hold it in hand. The RAZR, when I used it for 2 weeks, had amazing build quality. Felt sturdy and expensive. Only thing I didnt like was the width of the bezel and locked bootloader.

The Galaxy Nexus has a terrible shooter. Either the sensor or the rest of the optical package is at fault, but it's horrid.
