Extremely spicy foods... giving me a buzz?

I just got done about 10 minutes ago eating the spiciest curry chicken I've ever had (I told them to make it extra spicy). Is this a known phenomena for very spicy foods? I know it releases chemicals or whatever, but I'm seriously getting a decent buzz. It feels comparable to after I've had 2-3 beers. What's going on?

Also, I'm at work and just spoke with my boss. I'm pretty sure he thinks I was killing mini bottles in the bathroom over lunch.

It could be some kind of mild allergic reaction...

Alot of people are allergic to MSG, which is often found in foreign foods...

I'd say I eat a LOT of chinese food, like 2-3 times a week, and I've never had this feeling before. It seems to be because of how ridiculously spicy it was.

The spicy sensation is actually a pain reaction, so your brain is releaseing endorphins. Hence, a buzz.

Hasn't happened to me before with spicy food. The worst I get is watery eyes and a runny nose.

Is it documented to give quite a decent buzz? This is awesome. :D

I love spicy food.
I mean I really love spicy food.

Yea, the "buzz" you feel is the endorphin release, it's nice.

ho boy, try some raw habeneros. Your mouth will hurt for at least an hour.

The first 30 seconds or so you think "this isn't so bad". In fact they are sweet. Then the "OMG!! I'm gonna die....mommy" comes.

And then about four hours later, it comes back again. :Q

Ahh so this is why people who cut do it? I thought it was a mental condition, didn't realize it's because it gives them a decent buzz.

I've only tried 1/4 raw habenero at a time. And that is plenty for me. You are right about the delayed reaction. Some people think my habenero chilli is quite weak. That is, until they are half a bowl in and they are dying for ice cream.

I don't know why the habenero is that slow, but once it sets in, it won't go away for a long time.

I've gotten a mild buzz from spicy food. But to get a good buzz, it'll have to be hotter than I can stand to eat.
