Extremely sluggish performance

Here's my current setup.

Celeron 400
Legend QDI Advance 9 Motherboard (Via Apollo 133)
192 mb RAM
Elsa Gladiac Geforce 2 GTS

A newly formatted HD and fresh copy of Windows XP pro

New drivers from Elsa, from Legend QDI.

I'm experiencing some heavy slowdowns (this is not a recent thing, it has been always performing sluggishly.) I can't help to think there might be a bottleneck (bios setting? drivers? I tried resetting my bios...) somewhere.

Running 3dMark 2001 gave me a *nice* score of 782 :-(

I can't run NHL 2002 smoothly even on min details, even playing back the Episode II Quicktime trailer is extremely choppy!... Suggestions? Any more info needed... is it just the celeron?

Well, for one thing a Celery 400 is cutting it!! Your processor is running at 66mhz bus speed for one thing. Upgrading CPU's will help. Did you install any VIA 4in1 drivers from VIA? I did hear that WinXP has good VIA drivers with it... you might not need that. Your call. 4.36 or 4.37 could help from VIA's website. Also a big help is: Is your HD partitioned? if so, move/make a paging file and the partition/drive that doesn't have the OS on it. Helps alot. You could possibly make 384min to 384 max for paging file size. I personally like making it the same size (won't fragment the HD) Definitely try the paging file thing first, if you can. G/L

Also try using the Nvidia drivers instead of the Elsa drivers for video. The new Detonator Drivers 23.11 from Nvidia should help some.
