Extremely sloowww startup.

Well i got yelled at for staying up late playing video games again by my mom. But this time i argued back and i dunno things escaladed. She ended up getting mad and unplugged the power cord from the back of my power supply. I started it up later just to check it my comp was still working because it was an extremely hard yank. Anyways on startup everything looked normal the windows xp page with the loading bar and everything. Then the screen became black for a really long time without anything showing. I kept restarting and restarting but still nothing....then after that screen i decided to wait until finally after 2 minutes the blue login screen appears. Then i restarted again and same LONG wait. My startup before was about 25 seconds. Now it varies between a minute or 2 🙁. I opened up my comp cleaned it up and removed dust, then unplugged everything and replugged and still same damn results. Could this really have been caused by unplugging the power? I have no spyware or pron of any sort and am extremely careful in cleaning up my programs. So what gives, do you guys know watsup???

I'm guessing something on the software side was corrupted when your mom cut the power off. A solution? Mm, maybe check your registry to see if that is corrupted.

No you didn't. You need to punch out your mom for the real problem to be solved.

QFT. I had a problem similar to his a while ago...but the power went out, and I wasn't so lucky when my computer broke down and I had to reformat.

Lmfao. There's something wrong with you. First of all, your parents don't own you, and they certainly don't have the right to do whatever they want to you or your stuff. And people seriously need to have more respect for their computer equipment. Angry parents and PCs/consoles do not mix well.

By the way, someone already quoted me 😉

Oh, and quoted so you can't edit this out. 🙂

um ..... I think parents are a tad more important than a computer. In fact, almost any person should be more important to you than a computer. Especially when its just pulling the plug (which in a worst case scenario will only make you reinstall windows. Your hardware is still fine).

People heal, PCs don't. Nobody said computers are worth more than [whatever else], but why risk your property?

And if you'll notice by reading carefully, it was a little more than an "unplug". Plus I guess you haven't heard the horror stories by people that have had power failures crash their servers (company issue, big problem).

I agree, especially if you bought it with your own money.

Maybe just get a copy of someone else's, and try renaming the old one and putting in the new one.

You can boot into Windows, correct?
