Ok I have an onboad C-media audio card. Model CMI8738/C3DX PCI Audio with just installed latest drivers for XP(Cerca 12-27-2001). I just bought a new labtec headset and the mic volmue is extremely low even with the mic volume set to max in Windows and Half-life. Before installing the newest drivers I din't have mic volume at all. Is there any program or reg hack that can boost the mic volume even more?

When you view the mic volume, click on the 'advanced' button underneath the slider. Then click the '20db mic boost' box.

There is no advanced buton under the slider. There are advanced buttons under sound and voice recording int the Sound control pannel but they are greyed out. 🙁

What is the audiorack? Maybe it will give you some added functionality, but it seems to me you should have all of the controls available to you already.

And just to be sure, I'm talking about the 'recording' sound properties, not 'play control' sound properties. Sorry I don't know the appropriate xp term, but these are what I see in 98. Does the mic work at all, albeit at a low level?

The audio thing came with some programs like an mp3 player, CD player, mixer, etc. The mixer had a mic boost option. Works fine now. Thx for the help
