I have found 2 very hot deals for deployed service members/their families.
first: link is www.operationhomelink.org/index.shtml
this is a free computer + monitor for family members (spouse/parent) of a currently deployed service member. Specs are not given, but to donate a computer speed must be atleast 166mhz and 32mb ram (again miniumum to donate, most likely alot faster than that). Who really cares about speed, it is free to a deployed soldiers family, while they last. I got this information from my batallion Command Sergeant Major. Soldier's rank must be between E-1 and E-5, it is to help out the lower enlisted.
second deal:
For those who are deployed over in support of OIF (Operation Iraqi Freedom) either currently or previously. 350,000 gold (I assume gold colored, not real gold) military challenge coins, 2 inch in diameter, where minted and donated for every soldier, sailor, airman, and marine to recive one. If you have not recieved one, contact your 1sg (in case of the army) to find out how to get one. I got this information directly from the company that mints them, whom i have bought my unit's challenge coins from. below is the email paste from them:
The holiday season is upon us once again! As our staff at Quality Challenge Coins continues to grow, myself, Lisa, Tammy, Jeff, Mike and Ed would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a happy and safe holiday. We would also like to thank your units for making Quality Challenge Coins the largest coin company in the world! We will continue to provide the highest quality coins at the best prices! Our company is working on obtaining a GSA contract that should be in place by March 2004!
Every military member who was deployed to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom should be receiving a special 2" gold coin which we minted for Anheuser-Busch. They minted 350,000 coins to give out as a thank you to show their support to you and the 1SGTs should be able to obtain the coins to distribute. The full order of coins were shipped to Doha in Qatar for distribution to ALL branches of the military. Individuals in country currently, will be carrying coins home for any member, in their unit, who has already returned to the US. Check with your 1SG if you don't receive one within the next month or so!

If you ask me, these two deals are extremely hot, both are for free items for deployed/previously deployed service members. Remember, for the computer, soldier must be currently deployed.
