This is a very annoying problem, any help would be most appreciated.

I have an Abit KT7, a Guillimot GeForce2MX (it has a heatsink on it), and Windows 2000 Professional. After playing Counter-Strike (Half-Life) with OpenGL for a short while (usually between 30-60 minutes) it locks up on me. The sound repeats and everything is frozen. This does not appear to be happening when I use Direct3d, but playing Half-Life with Direct3d is horrible. My processor nor my GeForce2MX are overclocked. My processor is not overheating. Someone told me to install the via 4 in 1 drivers, but there is no difference whatsoever.

Please help,
Ben

What DirectX are you running? What version of Nvidia drivers are you using?

ARE memory timings set to the highest possible in BIOS? If so lower them
Do you have the latest BIOS?

Would you be willing to get a new board other than an Abit? You should, too many people have had problems with this motherboard. Hence Abit being removed from AMDs approved list

Whoa, a bit extreme!

Have you installed the AGP patch for AMD systems? I had a similar problem in CS and this fixed it.

I am running DirectX 8, but as I stated, I am running Half-Life in OpenGL not DirectX. The memory timings are turbo, but wouldnt this occur in Direct3d then as well? Because it doesnt - only in OpenGL. I am not willing to buy a new motherboard for this problem... I would rather just use Direct3d even though it looks a lot worse..

I haven't tried installing the AGP patch, but where can I get it?

Hows your system cooling? I had to pop a hole on the side of my case to put in a fan to blow directly on my geforce ddr card. That card got so hot I couldnt even touch it for more that a second. Kept locking up after a half hour or so of extreme 3d gaming.
