Here is my IRQ layout:

IRQ 0 System timer............................................................................OK
IRQ 1 Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard.....OK
IRQ 3 Communications Port (COM2)...................................................OK
IRQ 4 Communications Port (COM1)...................................................OK
IRQ 5 OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller..............................OK
IRQ 5 Linksys NC100 Fast Ethernet Adapter......................................OK
IRQ 5 Avance AC'97 Audio for VIA (R) Audio Controller.......................OK
IRQ 6 Standard floppy disk controller.................................................OK
IRQ 8 System CMOS/real time clock....................................................OK
IRQ 9 Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System.............................................OK
IRQ 10 Radeon 8500............................................................................OK
IRQ 10 LSI Logic 53C1010-33 Device...................................................OK
IRQ 11 Creative SB Audigy...................................................................OK
IRQ 11 LSI Logic 53C1010-33 Device...................................................OK
IRQ 11 VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller......................OK
IRQ 11 VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller......................OK
IRQ 11 VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller......................OK
IRQ 12 PS/2 Compatible Mouse............................................................OK
IRQ 13 Numeric data processor............................................................OK
IRQ 14 Primary IDE Channel.................................................................OK
IRQ 15 Secondary IDE Channel............................................................OK

Dose this seem right?, I was under the impression that IRQ's are not suppose to be shared like this. Last time I tried to start up my computer using an SCSI drive, it would restart once the SCSI card got done detecting the drive. The drive that I was using to test died as I was trying to figure out what was going one

, so I'm hoping it was the drive that was causing the reboots, an RMA is on its way. With the way my luck has been going with parts lately, I have a feeling it wont be that simple. A few thing's to note here are, I was able to format the drive and get through the first part of installing Windows XP Pro, and the other thing to note is that there is only one SCSI card in my computer, yet it says there are two(is that normal?). If anyone notices anything that will cause me trouble with running an SCSI drive please let me know, a way to fix it would be great as well.

If the controller is a dual channel controller, it will show 2 controllers, each with its own IRQ in most cases. Sharing like you see there is not uncommon at all with Win2k or XP, since they use virtual IRQ. If you find conflicts that dont work, try moving cards to different slots. Some people get better results if they disable ACPI for getting better IRQ assignments, but you sacrifice the ACPI features, like auto shut down. Your drive likely did not die from misconfiguration unless there is a short circuit somewhere. Your controller prolly would have died had that been the case however.

Hmmm, I guess I will just have to wait till I get the new SCSI drive to really know for sure if I'll have any problems. I'm pretty sure this controller is not dual channel. I got it from Hypermicro for $79, and dual controllers seem to have a higher price tag. I'm sure the drive just bit the dust on it's own, I smelt smoke on one bootup and then when I tried to use the drive again after shutting down it just wouldn?t spin up. Is it possible that this is a dual channel card? There is only one 68pin connector and 1 external connector. I'll make sure to try different PCI slot's if any problems come up.

IT certainly sounds like a single channel controller. Smoke is a bad sign. Hopefully that isnt why its showing 2 devices. Ive had an instantaneous split second voltage spike take out several drives and a controller.

I've had 2 dead SCSI drive's in the past, and neither one took the SCSI card along with it, I hope I don't have to RMA another part, that would make 5 parts this month . Thanks for the help mastertech, I'll let you know how everything goes :)
