Extreme overclocking AMD10 7850K, AIR COOLERS.

Hello, I would like to do the extreme overclocking of AMD10 7850K with AIR COOLERS. My Cabinet Corsair Graphite 780T Full-Tower, has already installed three fans, I can install three more, so as to improve the ventilation. I would avoid the water cooling, because I know that it may cause a loss.

AIR COOLERS What do you recommend for the extreme overclocking of AMD10 7850K of ATX motherboard asrock fm2a88x Extreme6 +?
If we need to add fans in the AIR COOLERS to improve performance, you can tell me?
 
A good "entry level" air cooler is the Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo. You should expect to spend $25-35 after shipping. How big is your power supply? Will you be overclocking the iGPU too?

I wouldn't dump more than $30-40 into it as a project, because you can simply sell what you have and buy a faster, cooler and quieter chip with the cost difference.

Agree 100% with Yuriman. The Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO is definitely one of the best air coolers for the money. It keeps my i5 4690K nice and cool, and very quiet! 🙂

I suppose overclocking a 7850k could be an interesting exercise, but overall I agree, better cpu or gpu performance is easily available with other alternatives. I would not invest a lot in overclocking.
 
Well, with maybe $25 closer to $20 as a sale price, he can play with the old system.

If he upgraded to Haswell Refresh, he could use the aftermarket cooler. Even the 212 EVO as daveybrat and others have proven.
 
It would help if you told us why you were overclocking.

Fun- maybe grab a big Noctua cooler and go nuts (watch motherboard temps)
Gaming - just buy a separate video card and get massively better performance
CPU for gaming or things like Adobe software- see previous comments in thread about new cpu
to make it seem faster- get an SSD
 
CoolerMaster Hyper 212 is great for air cooling and I have had several for several rigs. With that said, I don't think you are going to get "extreme" overclocking without at least an AIO water setup. Not at tolerable noise levels at least.

i wouldn't just blindly throw more fans in your case. Adding fans doesn't always improve ventilation. Just make sure your intake and exhaust fans are working together to move air over your CPU.
 
Yeah this is pretty much the same as his last thread.

Don't waste your money on anything better than the 212, since you probably won't get meaningful performance past 4.5 GHz on that motherboard anyway.
