azureus i liked, but the java sucks so much ass that it uses huge amounts of memory

bitcomet is C++ and seems to do the same, with next to nothing for memory useage.

Using the latest (1.5) Sun Java, Azureus' memory usage never exceeds ~90-100MB (not even with 500 connections) for me. I've never had any problems with it.

100MB is a huge amount of memory. Programs dont need to be written in asm anymore, because ram is cheaper, but jesus christ - over 100MB to download some BS? thats crazy.

I guess thats the price of java
Maybe if it's a file with lots of say, 2MB pieces and you're downloading off say 40 people (seeds/leechers), that could be 80MB of stuff which is constantly being accessed, and it would be better to have than in the RAM, so that's 80MB, plus program overhead.
