Extracting specific files from an incomplete MultiFile BitTorrent Download...

I'm downloading something on bittorrent right now, and its 99.5% done, but can't seem to find that last .5%.

However, when I look at torrent details, all the files I need are done (there a lot of fluff in the torrent, thats why my files are done).

Anyway, does any one know how to 'pull' completed files out of an incomplete multi-file bitTorrent download.

so long as the 0.5% you're missing isn't part of those files you should be able to use them...chances are if you have BT completely shut down so its not accessing the files and it still doesnt read, you're missing parts of those files...i think, anyway...

Use Azureus. You can choose which files to download if there are multiple files.

It depends on what files they are.
Things like mp3's and avi's you can just give the correct extension and they will play (whith a little skipping when they come across the missing data).
If it's not, you can just move the files to a different directory with no issues if they are complete.

(Bitcomet is better than Azureus and allows you to select which files to download , my recomendation)

azureus allows you to select which files to download too and set priorities

my only complaint with azureus is that it eats ram like crazy. with 512mb of ram, azureus + firefox + windowsxp + anything else = hd thrashing

Yes, Azureus is awesome for selecting downloading only certain files within files

It really isn't that bad with RAM either unless you only have like 256 MB or sumthin'...

theres no limitation. you can make pars for anything. torrent peeps just don't use em.

I have 1 GB of RAM and it slowed me right down after a few hours of using it. Needed a reboot.

bitcomet is C++ and seems to do the same, with next to nothing for memory useage.

You guys must be doing sumthin' funky.

I had trouble with Azureus till i got the latest java version, & since then, i'll run it for a week at a time.

The computer i use for downloading is only restarted every couple wks., & i only turn off Azureus if i am about to go into a long gaming session online.

i didnt think you could because torrents dont download in a specific order(sequential, like ,rar1, rar2, rar3, etc.) it just pulled from every file all over the place till it was finished

Wrong. Azureus has an option to download things sequentially.

I never even get that high. I run Azureus for about 5-7 days before I shut down my computer for an hour's rest or so. Only time I don't use it is when I'm playing games.

If it's an archive of many individual files that do not require the files not yet downloaded, then yes you can use them. I've had 8GB archives that I shut off early just to access what I already had.

It's typical memory usage on a busy day is 60-65MB.

100MB is a huge amount of memory. Programs dont need to be written in asm anymore, because ram is cheaper, but jesus christ - over 100MB to download some BS? thats crazy.

I guess thats the price of java
