Extra long bootup

I recently built a new computer and it's been running good until the other day. I went to boot it up and once it reached the Windows XP Professional loading screen with the little blue bar that goes up, it just stalled there for about 2 minutes until I could actually get to the desktop. I've also noticed some slowdown in games. I'm not sure what the problem is, the hard drive, the motherboard or what?

Computer Specs:
Athlon 64 X2 4200+
Biostar nForce4 mobo
Xion 600W Power Supply
2GB Corsair XMS2
ATI Radeon X1950XTX 512MB
Seagate Barracuda 200 GB HDD
Windows XP Pro SP2

I'd check for Malware/Spyware first off.

Other than that make sure your Chipset drivers are correctly installed.

Any changes to the System?

Sounds similar to having a HD set to DMA mode without the proper Drivers.
