like the title says..... what are good extra curricular activities that look really good for college and are fun to be involved in?

Volenteer...but do it the easy way, do like a 3-4 day camp councler kinda thing during spring break and you get 24 service hours for each day!! hah...makes it look like u volenteer A LOT but youll have fun doing it. Also try to get into a leadership class at school...i got into a leadership class called Mosaic which was basicly a easy history class...

umm if you're doing extra curriculars simply to impress colleges, you have a lot more to worry about.

just do things you like. whether they impress colleges or not should be secondary. if that.

- Join / Form a Biotechnology Team where you devise your own biotech project, contact local scientists/corporations, do the research, and write a paper.

Whoever says volunteering and SAAD (Students Against Drunk Driving) are hipocrits. And so are the students in those clubs. They do it to get into college or whatever - it doesn't do anything for college.

You have to stand out, and the only thing better than being a leader of a club is starting your own club. Being a member doesn't count for anything.

Personally, the two clubs i was heavily involved in during my years in high school was the school newspaper - I was Editor of Opinions. And I was on the school's Debate team, i was captain of that. Not only were they fun for me to do, but they (mostly debate) taught me a lot more than my 4 years of official high school education did. Plus I enjoyed being a part of them, and having a high position in something you enjoy is very rewarding.

So: Don't join a club because it looks good, especially if you're only gonna be a member. You have to be a leader or, much better, a founder of a club. And you have to devote time to it. Quality over quantity. If a college sees you were a member of 10 clubs, all it will tell you is you never devoted yourself to any one club. Keep that in mind.

I could not agree more. Nothing annoys me more than Little Miss NHS/KEY Club/Recycling Club/Feed the Needy Club/the list goes on. If you enjoy those things, fine... I don't. I enjoy every club I am in (debate, mocktrial, academic team, newspaper, business club), and if you are doing things just to "look good for college" there are bigger issues at hand. If you are interested in starting a new club that you and others have an interest in, go for it. Not only will you have fun doing it, but it will also meet the criteria set forth in your original post.

How can you group doing it to get into college and doing it to help the community together?

Personally, I joined Key Club because its a great way to meet new people and help out the community.

I personally didn't do anything,
i had a straight 4.0+ so i was like Fsck it, im done.
I didnt have any problems getting accepted to U of M / Ann Arbor so im thinking colleges just like me dont give a rats ass...
and dont even get me started on community service...

But good EC activites are women, alcohol and parties. Use them in random combinations, they seem to work well like that

Forget Key Club. Long live Red Cross!!!

Start a club of your own. If it's successful more power to you. If it's not you can still say you started it.
