I posted this in peripherals forum and not luck; anyway...

Im having a hard time finding a compatible external network drive that can be shared/accessed by both MACs and PCs. Anyone have a suggestion? Must have a network interface, NO usb/firewire and NO usb/airport extreme solutions please.

~TIA

Would you be open to building your own? I recently built a NAS using a PC computer and some hard drives. FreeNAS is very easy to install and manage:

All you need is an old computer and a big hard drive!

Just make sure when you connect with the mac you go to

Go > Connect to Server > for the server name type smb://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and then connect. As long as the device supports samba you are good
