Yes please help on how to do this with windows xp professional

Will doing this put a strain on performance?
Will I be able to connect my HDD to another computer and decrypt it so that I can acess the data?

Thanks

For XP you can either use EFS or PGP. There are probably a dozen other applications that can do this, but I don't know them. Not sure if I'd trust them either.

With PGP, you could decrypt it on any machine where PGP is installed and you have the apppropriate keys. With EFS, it'd have to be an XP machine with the apppropriate key. I guess if you're not on a domain you could export the key from the original machine and import it on another machine.
