External HD

My mother wants an external HD for pictures. I think she'll have a pretty tough time filling up 250GB, so I think that's an appropriate size (she previously had a 60GB external which she filled up over the course of about two and a half years).

Does it matter what brand I get? Suggestions?

Edit: It doesn't need to be pocket sized, but it needs to fit in the bag she takes to work, so nothing monstrous either.
