I have a maxtor 160 GB ultra series 7200 RPM ultra ATA/133 hard drive. It is attached through usb and is enclosed in a powerspec enclosure. I had my computer running a program called dvd shrink all night. When I came back I lost some information and my folder disappeared. I went to look for it and found it in an entirely different folder on my external hard drive. I live in a dorm so there is alos the question of someone messing with my computer but I am also curious as to if it would be a problem with my hard drive or my software. Let me know.
 
I would take a serious look at DVD Shrink. Sounds to me like you let it take over your system. It is supposed to shrink a commercial DVD files to fit on a DVD-R Disk. That should have nothing to do with the rest of your computer provided you curbed it to shrinking a particular DVD to a specific location. It should not involve anything else. ???
