External hard drive broke

Its a 1TB WD elements drive, it is recognised by windows but i cant access it, if i try it just keeps clicking, clicks about 5-6 times then stops then starts again, does this for about 15 mins then stops completely which i assume is just the drive going into sleep mode.

Is there any way of getting my data off this drive?

in my experience, the clicks are from the hard drive mechanically failing, not doing something intentionally like sleeping/powersave
i have had this happen to WD external drives and they were toast.

i would pull the disk, freezer trick and pop it into my desktop and pray

Ok, ill wait for my new 1TB drive to arrive and then stick the old one in the freezer  Ill unplug it and leave it be for now, since it probably wont get any better plugged in.
