External Hard Disk detection problems.

I have a 320gb Hitachi 2.5" HDD inside a Hard Disk Enclosure. The HDD is already formatted and ready to be used. The issue now is, whenever I plug in the HD Enclosure when the Computer is already on, the HD won't appear in My Computer. Then I tried plugging it while the computer is still off. When it is already booted with the HD connected through th enclosure, the HD can be detected. I did the safely remove then plugged it back in, it won't be detected again.

Help guys, I don't have any other enclosure to try the HDD on so I can't do further troubleshooting. Do I have to do some other installations or change settings with the HD?
Please help guys, Thanks!

Are you using USB or eSATA connections? Your problem sounds like you are using eSATA and your SATA chipset or drivers aren't supporting hotswap.
